What to do right now

Take these steps in order. Acting quickly can help stop money from moving further.

Money already sent?

Call the national cyber-fraud helpline now.

Call 1930
  1. 1

    Stop

Do not transfer more money. Do not delete messages, calls, or payment records.

  2. 2

    Call 1930

If money was sent, call the national cyber-fraud helpline as quickly as possible—ideally within the first hour.

  3. 3

    File the complaint

Report the incident at cybercrime.gov.in and save your acknowledgement number.

  4. 4

    Preserve evidence

Keep screenshots, usernames, phone numbers, URLs, call logs, transaction IDs, and bank messages.

  5. 5

    Tell someone

Contact a parent, warden, teacher, or your institution’s security team. You do not have to handle this alone.

  6. 6

    Do not negotiate

Do not re-engage, pay to delete material, or trust anyone offering paid recovery.
